VasbySF Track Club: About Coach Miche

Coach Miche was destined to be in track. On July 6 th, 1972, Pierre & Marianne Hoffer were spectators at one of the biggest track & field events held every year in Stockholm, called DN Galan. Marianne, 9 months pregnant at the time, had to leave the track meet early. Little Miche (11 lbs of him) decided it was time for him to also join the track world on that day.

Miche became a member of the Swedish National Track Team at the age of sixteen. In college, he trained with Coach Tom Tellez (Carl Lewis’ coach). While finishing his degree in International Business Marketing, he was a full-time decathlete, competing for both Sweden and for the University of Houston track team.

In 2000, Miche was looking forward to competing at the Sydney Olympics; unfortunately, an injury at training camp kept him from competing for Sweden. Later that year, he moved to the Bay area, not in pursuit of his sport, but to pursue matters of the heart. On 04-04-04, Miche and Rowe Hoffer were married on the beautiful island of Maui, HI.
